Airbnb Rentals Booming in Western North Carolina

If you’ve ever considered buying investment property, consider that Henderson County, NC has a 99% long term occupancy rate and has for several years now. This trend is starting to shift downward in Buncombe county, where multiple large apartment complexes have started popping up everywhere. But this is not the case in the Hendersonville area.

But if being a landlord is not your cup of tea, consider short term vacation rentals Not only are they great sources of income, they are also a great way to purchase a vacation home and have guests help pay for it.  Purchasing a second home where you will spend every most holidays and a few weeks in the summer, leaves your property unoccupied for the remainder of the year. But the utilities and property are due whether you’re in the house or not.

We recently turned one of our properties into an Airbnb rental and have been surprised by the immediate response (and bookings) in such a short amount of time. Yes, it creates some additional work, but it’s nice to know the property isn’t sitting there costing you money when you aren’t using it!

If you are interested in the prospects of locating and acquiring property for short term rentals, it is best to contact a qualified REALTOR® who is familiar with the area and knows where you can and cannot have short term rentals due to local regulations.  Contact Donna Earl at Mountain Pathways Realty for more information.
